WineWeaver Frequently Asked Questions

Why is aerating wine so important?

Aeration is defined as exposing wine to air. This is important because the air helps to bring forth the character of the wine for both older and younger bottles. In addition, mature bottles often have hidden aromas and complex tastes, while younger bottles need the acidity soften in order to truly experience the subtle nuances that make wine so enjoyable. In order to accomplish this in the past, decanting was used to coax forth these elements. Often referred to as “letting a bottle breathe,” it could often take hours for a bottle to be “decanted.” However, with a wine aerator, it only takes a fraction of the time to obtain the same results. WineWeaver allows you to perfectly aerate the wine, either by the glass or by the decanter. You will notice a more mellow taste and a much smoother finish than if you simply poured a glass straight from the bottle.

Should I use the WineWeaver with a decanter or a glass?

One of the nicest features of the WineWeaver is that you may use it with a traditional decanter or your favorite wine glass. An adjustable spout allows you to use the WineWeaver with a variety of glasses and decanter, without compromising the aeration process. It is perfect for a single glass in the evening or if you are opening a bottle to share with a few friends.

How easy is the WineWeaver to use?

It could not be easier to use the WineWeaver. You simply lower the spout for use with a decanter, or raise it up to use it with your favorite wine glass. Then place it on top of the decanter or the glass for complete handsfree use. When you slowly pour the wine through this wonderful wine accessory, the perfectly drilled holes in the spout will allow the air to weave naturally into the wine. You will have finally unlocked your wine’s full potential.

How exactly does the WineWeaver work, anyway?

As wine is poured into the WineWeaver, air exposure is maximized by the perforated lattice spout. By naturally weaving air into the wine, the true facets of the wine begin to emerge. Pressure in the base of the spout begins to build and through eight precisely designed holes in the bottom, aeration continues when the wine cascades down the sides of your glass or decanter. The curve or “sweet spot” of the glass helps to achieve the maximum aeration. In addition, the unique design of the WineWeaver allows for contact with your wine glass or decanter at all times. It is an effective, yet simple dual method of aeration. You may instantly enjoy every glass of wine to the fullest.

Should only red wines be used with the WineWeaver?

You may use the WineWeaver with white and red wines. Even rose wines will benefit from the WineWeaver. While the aeration of red wines is more common, many wine drinkers are now enjoying all of their favorite wines with the WineWeaver. With red wines, you will specifically notice more character after aeration. With white wines, aeration will produce a more subtle improvement in flavor and aroma.

My guests prefer a variety of wines. Will the WineWeaver work with all of them?

It is sometimes difficult to match wines to different foods or to accommodate each guest’s personal preferences for their wines. Some prefer a light white, while others simply love a full-bodied red. Since the WineWeaver allows you to aerate each glass of wine, you no longer have to decant an entire bottle. If you have re-sealed a bottle to enjoy later, the WineWeaver may also be used to revive a vacuum-sealed bottle.

Is the WineWeaver dishwasher safe?

Yes. However, you may find that a simple rinse in warm, soapy water is more than sufficient for cleaning and is gentler in the long run.

What material is the WineWeaver made from?

Because the WineWeaver is designed to sit on top of your glass or decanter, it had to be designed from a material that wouldn't damage the glassware. Therefore, after years of engineering and research, an incredibly lightweight polycarbon was used in the design process. It is approved for use with alcohol by the U.S. FDA and EEC. In addition, the use of this material allows for a wonderful mix of color to be added, but the WineWeaver also appears almost crystal like and very elegant.

Which wine glass is best to use with the WineWeaver?

The exterior fins of the WineWeaver allow it to sit securely on a variety of decanters and wine glasses. From your most expensive set of glassware to the everyday collection of wine glasses, the WineWeaver will perform perfectly.

Where is the wine poured in?

The wine is poured directly into the main bowl of the WineWeaver. (Obviously, the WineWeaver needs to be sitting on top of the decanter or the glass.) You do not have to concentrate on pouring it directly in to the spout chamber. The wine will freely flow into and out of the spout through the perforations. As the wine cascades down the sides of the glass, it can almost become mesmerizing. Just make certain you do not focus only on the flow of the wine and overfill your glass!

Is there any additional equipment needed to use the WineWeaver?

There is no other special equipment needed. Since it sits directly on your glass, you will not even need a separate stand. It is not clumsy to use either. The WineWeaver is designed to be used completely handsfree.

What are the additional benefits of the WineWeaver?

You will love the bouquet, taste, and character that aeration releases. However, the spout is also specially designed to act as a filter for the small pieces of cork and sediment. This helps to make your total wine experience more enjoyable.

Does the WineWeaver drip or spill?

When we developed the WineWeaver, we wanted to make sure it did not require a lot of fuss. A cradle has been integrated into the design. Simply place the WineWeaver in the cradle between each use and you will never have any unwanted spills or drips on your tablecloth.

Is the WineWeaver available in different colors?

Yes! Currently, the WineWeaver is available in blue, red, purple, and green. If you would like another color, please simply drop us an email. We welcome any comments you may have.
